About Me: Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking in the Nursing Field

  • About Me: Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is an active, organized, cognitive process used to carefully examine one's thinking and thinking of others. A critical thinker considers what is important in a situation, imagines and explores alternatives, considers ethical principles, and then makes informed decisions. (2009, Potter, p.216) To me, critical thinking skills include interpretation, analysis, evaluation, explanation and self-regulation. These skills are needed in order to seek out truth and be a advocate for patient health.
